The Universal Cycles of Change – How to Navigate Life’s Changes with Confidence and Ease

A tree is a tree, the ocean, the ocean, and you and I, are, well, you and I. We are all complex living systems that have a particular experience in common: Change.

Change is essential to living a productive and vibrant life. Even so, many of us humans actually aim to resist this, finding it uncomfortable, scary, challenging, or too disruptive to our own agendas.

Nature, on the other hand, never resists change. Nature is born with a wisdom and knowing that enables and empowers it to keep producing, keep thriving and keep evolving. It has been said that nature is our greatest teacher. And when it comes to change, we humans can learn so much about how to grow successfully from simply observing and allowing the naturally occurring system and cycles of Change.

There are seven cycles of Change that occur in all living systems; from plants, trees, and the seasons, to our relationships, career, health, and family. When you become aware of these seven distinct cycles you can begin to consciously respond and create the kind of life experiences that you want (vs. react unconsciously or feel lost or controlled by your circumstances).

When you notice a person who does very well in his or her life, who demonstrates healthy balance, a kind of effortlessness and ease in life, a flexibility in mind and body and a genuine humility, you can bet that this person is attuned to these seven cycles of change.

Please come learn more about how to navigate your self through change with greater ease and more confidence. Join Personal Life Coach Laura Burkey at Edwardsville Fitness Studio in downtown Edwardsville to learn this simple and transforming model.

Nourish~Move~Heal

Since June 6th, I’ve been participating in a 28-Day Transition to Raw food and it has been fascinating! I’ve been medium to high raw for a few years now and decided that June would be a great month to attempt 100%.  No chocolate, (but carob is a fine substitute!), no coffee (well…almost no coffee), no dairy (except I am drinking milk from my goat), and no alcohol.  I’ve discovered Kelp noodles, raw Tahini and macadamia based cream cheese.

There have been days when my ego just wanted to rebel against the whole thing and that little voice in my head egged me on toward cheese and crackers, cookies and pasta.  I dealt with it by staying with raw choices, though on the heavy end of the spectrum–a big spoonful of cashew butter and a slice of Manna bread for instance.  And surprisingly, even though my diet was darned healthy before this effort I have still experienced symptoms of detox!

My interest in raw is simple; I want to give my body every possible chance to thrive in a world full of toxins and stress.  I have no intentions of permanently adopting a 100% raw lifestyle–I LOVE trout, salmon and an occasional piece of red meat,  (grass fed and finished), as well as coffee and chocolate!  Hopefully by the end of this program though I will  shed some stubborn and unwanted pounds, learn how to be more creative with preparing raw food and will have broken some bad habits that keep me from my highest level of health.

Today marks the halfway point and I’m confident I’ll make it through the entire program!  I look forward to sharing some great tasting and very simple recipes with you in the coming days and some ideas for introducing more raw food into your diet.   Stay tuned for the rest of this excellent food adventure…
